Waterlife Nitrate Test Kit

Waterlife Nitrate Test Kit

Waterlife Nitrate Test Kit - Measures nitrate which causes algae growth
What is nitrate? – Nitrite is oxidised into Nitrate (chemical symbol NO3) by nitrobacter, filtration bacteria. Excessive levels of nitrate in an aquarium are responsible for poor fish colouration, lehtargy, a failure to breed, and excessive algae growth. In seawater, high nitrates are also responsible for stunted coral growth.

The data below is a rough guide to tolerable nitrate readings. Please refer to a reference book for specifics.
Seawater: 0-20ppm
Freshwater: 0-50ppm

The Waterlife nitrate test gives a colour reading within 6 minutes, indicating nitrate levels. Range covered 0 to 200 mg/l.

What to do should a reading occur? Check you are not overfeeding. Carry out an immediate 25% partial water change, (using Waterlife Haloex) to dilute the nitrate. Add more live plants. In freshwater, nitrate can be removed with Waterlife's Nitraway. Suitable for marine, tropical freshwater and coldwater aquaria. Available in: 50 tests Contains: 1 x ampul, 3 x 20ml bottles & vial
